Agree, I think GMail is pretty KEWL !!!! Lotta others said to stay away because of privacy issues. Well if you worried use an encryption tool, a good free one is CryptainerLE (google it).

I'll have to check out the IM, dats great news .... wonder if they are trackin dat too ... rotf

it was released a while ago-- and has just been integrated into gmail, and so, now you can im from your browser.

i haven't used im in quite some time-- had too many people on the list, but only liked talking to a few of them. email/phone/in person much better

Quick stupid question:
does this just replace yahoo e-mail and chat?
And if so can the yahoo e-mail still be used?
Can outlook 2003 still be used?

YES you can use Outlook Express or (ew) Outlook if you want... and you can't on Yahoo unless you pay.

And get this:
I called my ISP because some emails were not going through that I had backed up to my Yahoo email. He said that there was no sending limit, which was why they were sent, but there is a recieving limit of 10MB. The guy was like "try to split them up" and I said that the only way to do that was in Outlook Express. He was like "what's your email", I gave it to him, and found a Gmail Invite from him later.

What's the maximum attachment size?

With Gmail, you can send and receive messages up to 10 megabytes (MB) in size. However, the precise amount allowable will depend on the attachment. When you add an attachment, the size of a file may increase because transport encodings are automatically added. (Transport encodings are the information that allows your message to be safely sent and read.) This means that in some cases, attachments that are 6 to 10MB in size may push the total message size above 10MB. When this happens, Gmail displays a warning that your message exceeds the 10MB limit.

It would take a while to download though.

Try one of those file hosting places, like www.filefactory.com for example, you can attach 500MB at a time... so just use WinRAR to split into 500MB chunks.

But I think it would be easier to just carry the DVD around

I use my Gmail for the "remote hard-drive" thing you can download also. It works pretty good for documents and such for school.

I use my 1GB server, it is fast! It goes over 1MB/sec at my school's T1 computers. Good enough for me plus it's free.
