Album Art

First off, I gotta say, that whole filesharing thing that got me banned for a day... sorry about that! That certainly doesn't reflect who I am for the most part!

Now, as I pointed out before, the file size was 2 MB bigger than it should be because of album art. Now, this is the odd thing... the actual picture that I pasted in there is less than one MB. So where does the other MB come from?

I get all my album art pics from Amazon just for the reference. Now, should you save that to your desktop, you will find that the pic is only 56 KB. So, anyone know where all that extra space comes from? Is MusicMatch just doing something weird with its files?

Could it just be a really hi-res pic?

That pic is coded for copyright protection purposes. Artists do that when they do not want people ripping from the net for free.

it's an album art tag but not a file?

all i know is when i used music match to remove album art the mp3 got 2 megs smaller and when saved the album art it wanted to be only 700KB in size whatever the format.

i keep album art as png in the same folder as the rest of the ablum-- imho its stupid to integrate in the mp3 file(s)

It is a .jpeg but Adobe photoshop 7 can not read it it is coded with copyright protection. The picture will open with windoes picture and fax viewer but no other photo program. Photo shop says it is coded and can not open the file.

he's changed the file since I downloaded the mp3 and extracted the album art, I was interested in seeing if there were any other embedded files,
like trojans/virii

No it's not... click on the link. But I mean, if you say "save picture as" and save it, it's like 50 kb.
