AMD prices have dropped in the UK recently. The AMD 64 3700 I bought in February for £170 is now only £110. I needed a new computer so I couldn't have waited until now.

Today, I can get a X2 3800 for almost the same price.

Yeah that always happens, lol. You just have to be happy you got it when you did for that price. I don't think we will ever keep up!

I was very happy and still pleased with it. The Intel equivalent was something like £200 more. I have been AMD for a long time and see no reason to change.

The only alternative was to go Sempron and I didn't really want to do that. My board can do up to X2 4400 with the current BIOS drivers. So, I will just go straight to that from the single core 3700 when it is a lot cheaper.

interesting article, lot of cpu dumping, low end single core won't go down much, high end will drop drastically(amd 64 3800 50%)

            the x2 low end will drop drastically(amd x2 64 3800 43%)

            what's fueling this price drop

Intel has released plans to dump surplus inventory of dual core P4 cpus
            for the next 2 months

            I expect to see an amd X2 64 3800 for ~160$
