WOW!!!!! I'm with LFC on this

I have a 160gb and 60gb internal and a 250gb external. The 60 gets swapped with a couple of 40's I have, keep meaning to get another big internal to replace it so I can stop fidling around with the small ones.

jbod can be 1 single drive

seen too many stripes lose everything

matter of fact I have never seen a stripe last more than a year or two

Agree, too me RAID is a waste ....

2 - 170 WD's
2 - 250 Seagates (1 used for Backups ONLY)

PS: Don't use RAID, get Bug Control to get rid of the roaches ....

I should qualify that statement, they were all system stripes, and certain numbskulls had access to the computer. My mistake was not password protecting bios.

Using the 40 to 60's ain't bad if ya have the room..sorta like partitioning a big one but safer IMO....all your eggs ain't in one basket.

I agree, if you gonna do it do it only on the OS and Apps partions.

I went a different route and chose to make ghost images (edit: once a month) of OS and Apps partions and use a BU util (home brew .bat file) to do my data BU's.

Hmmm, we must be from the same planet, I use ghost also. OS partition, data, mail, mp3, partitions also. Having the different partitions makes it easy to do

I feel so inadequate! I have 32GB on my home PC and 60GB on my work PC. Is it fairly easy to install more? Or should I junk the home PC and get a new one?

with a controller card, 2 pata hard drives and regular mobo ide's w/ 2 dvd burners all devices are standalone masters, course you can always slave
2 more hard drives and 2 more optical drives if your case is big enough
