In the UK, I hate all the non-stop repeats and there's also a number of channels showing the same things where we feel bombarded with the same things. The movie channels are the same. Some of the TV programmes and films are titles that I like but they go too far and nothing is new. There are so many other TV programmes that haven't been on Cable and Sky TV for years or not at all since Cable and Sky TV came out and I can't understand why they re-new the rights to show the same things again. If it's because of high demands then those people should buy those titles if they like them that much.
Some episodes of certain TV programmes have been repeated a couple of days later due to the odd blunders.
I like the Star Wars films, too but the movie channels are being stupid because at the moment we have a Star Wars film on nearly every day and this has gone on for about three weeks. When they've shown Return Of The Jedi they go back to The Phantom Menace again. When they started showing them again this year, they started the series with A New Hope. As we all know, A New Hope was the first made but not the first in the series. It was pointless started them halfway through the story. It's as dumb as reading a book started from chapter 15 and when you reach the end of the book it's time to go to chapter 1 until chapter 14 is read.
We also have a Star Wars on twice in one day on one movie channel and other Star Wars film on another movie channel.
Rocky 4 is only three times in one day over the weekend on the same channel.
We also have comdies on UKTV Drama and that channel is for dramas, not comedies. Quite a lot of channels here have names for a catagory of TV programmes and they never stick to it.
UKTV Gold and UKTV Drama never show any series' properly. We can be watching Series 1 of whatever, get halfway through Series 1 and they jump to an episode in Series 3 and then a few episodes to Series 2. I've complained to them about all that and they told me they'll note my complaint but they never improve things.
Now we have these TV quizzes where people phone in and guess the answer where it's hard to get through. Those quizzes are all over the place now like a virus and ITV1 used to have some good TV programmes on at night and now they all have been taken off for one of those stupid quizzes.
At night, all there is, is a big number of channels showing Poker for hours on end. Then, sometime ago when I thought it was bad, a Poker channel was launched for more Poker. I can't see the point in a channel launched for something that's already on everywhere, here. Bravo launched Bravo 2 about 5 weeks ago so that they can show what's already on Bravo and Bravo+1.
What's it like elsewhere in the world?
Darren.
