As is expected, Australia is exercising a mighty vengeance on the poms in the Ashes.

Cricket lovers may feel free to post how poorly the poms are doing here.

For myself, it is truly entertaining to see their strike bowler not being able to land it on the pitch!! Send Hopeless Harmison home, like you did with Terrible Trescowthick.

And Jumpin Jerry Jones ain't a keeper's infested toenail!

I said Jones and Giles were a mistake, Reid and Monty should be playing and we needed at least two more first class matches to get enough practice to give us a chance to compete!!

You need Jones for the moment - he might be able to bat a bit better than the 5 blokes above him!

Old age is going extremely well for Glenn McGrath. He doesn't look like growing into a cranky retiree and is happy to poke fun at himself. As he left the field beaming at his stunning 6 for 50, he broke off from his ball-raising and grabbed at his lower back, pretending to be an aching grandfather. The crowd laughed as it cheered.

But seriously Blu, I am a wee bit worried about the batting form of my favourite
Gilly.He seems to be having quite a bit of problem negotiating those incoming balls from right-arm round the wkt.How I would have loved to see him thrashing them blue.Ponting has a nice opportunity to overtake both Lara and Sachin in the century count.
BTW, I am probably the only Indian who is a great fan of the Aussies(even when playing against my own country).The Aussies are the only MEN in the world of cricket at present.Rest are just BOYS.

Well paglamon, those are very nice words. Ricky has just declared before he had to retire hurt - looks like he's pulled a muscle - so no "double" for him this time. Justin Langer scored a well deserved ton though.

And now the poms only have to score 660 odd to win. Plenty of time left and the weather is beautiful!

Re Gilly - he's getting on, is outa form wih the bat and they may have worked him out (as you say). He has many more chances though.

Time to watch the McGrath and Warne show.

Hi M, good to see you. Hope you are well.

A slightly better day for us, at least we showed some fight at last. Saving the game is a very remote possibility against Warne on a dodgy wicket. Langer deserved his hundred, class bat and a very nice bloke who plays the game in the right way. He played to the crowd brilliantly at Old Trafford in 2005 and won a lot of people over with his attitude on the feild.

Gillchrist has stopped moving his feet at the moment, both batting and behind the stumps. The key to his best form at both has always been very quick feet, he dives around behind the stumps a lot more now than he did 2 years ago simply because he's not using his feet, he gets away with the lack of foot movement because he has fantastic hands. I have no doubt he will come good with the bat at some point, he is too good a player not to, but I have a feeling he will have to reign himself in at first and just occupy the crease to find some form.

Should be a good day tomorrow, hopefully England will fight all the way, if we are still batting at tea it will be a confidebnce boost even if we lose.

Probably the most frustrating thing about being a new knitter is trying to figure out what to knit. You want easy projects, but you also want something that's fun, something that's useful, and something that will make you decide you want to keep up with your new hobby.

One of the first projects I ever made was a knitted red rectangle. I think it was supposed to be a washcloth, but I know I never used it for anything. Maybe a doll blanket. The point is, it taught me much-needed skills, but I wasn't exactly excited by it.

Yes, a better day for your boyos. They showed some pluck and except for a terrible rush of blood to the head, C'wood had a ton (although both his and Peterson's innings were basically "have a swipe and see if we can take the attack away from the bowling" - this is actually what Warne wanted -- it totally amazes me that Peterson can't resist hitting against the most potent spin in the world when he's batting to save his (adopted) country). And Flintoaf is in direct contradistinction to Ponting in England last year - no Captain's knock for Freddy.

Peterson coulda been out a few times and that "missed stumping" by Gilly might have been the icing. However, P'son was back in a trice and even if Gilly had taken the ball cleanly, he had to get back to the stumps to remove the bails. It woulda been touch and go. Still, the way he took it was G Jones-ish and gave us no hope. His batting needs to improve if he wants to hold his spot next year. Pity, cos he's probably the most loved Aussie cricketer behind Warnie.

Collingwood couldn't have missed the ball by more -- he was 2 yards down the pitch and the ball spun that far away from him!!! Total dill.

The pitch can't be all that bad - 1250+ runs in 4 days for 25 wickets. You gotta hit a crack for it to do something - otherwise, it is actually very flat and I dare say a dentured batsman from Cornwall could do alright on it.
