Depending on your rating of violence
-Add all star wars w/ possible exception of Revenge of the Sith
What I am specifically looking for is good comedies that don't include nudity/crude humor, etc. Having a tough time finding real good ones that are suitable for young teens.

not comedy, but what about the lord of the rings? it's good for all ages i think.

for comedy i don't think there is much other than g cartoons.

Yeah, other than that, there is the "clearplay" that I referenced in post # 11. I am still considering going that route, but I didn't want to have an added expense of $80/year subscription.

          As far as comedies:

My friends kids at work like:
          -the parent trap type movies
          -disney series tv programs
          -Zathura (sp) the movie

          I would also add:
          - the movie about the super hero highschool w/ Kirk Douglass
          - 8 Below
          -Akeelha and the Bee
          -RV (for late teens)
          -Hoot
          -Nanny Mcphee

The Benchwarmers - I thought was really good but should be screened for age appopriateness.

An alternative to those expensive things is TV movies...
Movies like Lord of the Rings are TV-PG, they are edited down a bit. If you don't mind commercials, taping them on even VHS is a free alternative.

I know this was the only way my parents let me see The Matrix, because of it's R rating, but on TNT it was TV-14.

the movie about the super hero highschool w/ Kirk Douglass
Sky High by chance? That's not really a comedy though...

Try my suggestion of The Little Giants... it's a great movie, I watched it when I was like 7 years old so it should be fine (rated PG for language but as I recall that didn't matter)

Yeah those are good movies, LOL

Still, The Little Giants is my all-time favorite sports movie (other than Remember the Titans - but that's not a comedy), rent it from Blockbuster if you have to

Well I'd had a reply posted but deleted it, thinking it might be a little too adult-themed, but who knows? I'll let you decide. It's rated R for language, I'd say anyone over 13 or so shouldn't have a problem with it, but I wanted to recommend it for the adults here, anyway. Definitely a darn good flick.

How to kill your neighbor's dog

I say adult-themed because most of the humor revolves around him trying to get his wife pregnant. But it's extremely well written and hilarious at times. The cursing is where the F word is used as adjectives a lot, not vulgarities, that kind of cursing.

Obviously check the reviews, don't judge it by the title...heh.

The Pacifier (yeah, I know )
                    Uncle Buck
                    Tommy Boy
                    Daddy Day Care

I like these and the others I posted because:
                    1. No bad swearing
                    2. No blood
                    3. I don't have to explain to the 4 yr old why the man and woman are wrestling in the bedroom

That's the main problem I am trying to avoid. I can filter most offensive language with our TV Guardian, although my son says that just messes the movie up

We even run into pg-13 movies that one could consider not the best for young eyes to see, such as one we watched recently "Click". Yeah, kinda funny & had it's touching moments, but the whole dog "playing" with the stuffed duck scene was funny for about a full 2 seconds,

but they kept repeatedly going back to that scene throughout the movie which I felt was really lame...

I know, I am considered "ultra-conservative" by a lot of my friends, but I belong to the "old school" & I personally feel that "bathroom humor" belongs in the bathroom, & bedroom scenes should stay behind closed doors...

With so many of the flicks available today, it's either "all or nothin"...

You're an expert at DVD Shrink, why not cut scenes like that out

Just put, say Click on your computer, and cut those parts out!

That's what they do when they show them on TV, which is why I suggested watching them on TV.

Well, I'm far from an expert, but I can cut scenes, which is what is what I may end up doing so we can watch all the "Revenge of the nerds" movies!

But you may only end up with a 20 minute movie...LOL

They are young. They have lots of time to watch those in full version. I'd stick with clean movies, they are out there.

Course that way, I can fit multiple titles (the whole series) on one disc, yes?!?!

True Kabu, but I think you are misunderstanding what I am really saying; when my kids are 35, I still won't allow them to watch that bad stuff
