Vodka is always good to have on hand. I love trying new mixes all the time.

i prefer a good wine to almost anything

shiraz, pinot noir or many more (cabernet-sauvignon, cabernet-franc, merlot, tempranillo, sangiovese,...) in the cold days and some fresh whites in the summertime like riesling, sauvignon, colombard, some chardonnay,...

and a good single malt every once in a while

@ UncasMS - same here. I love the full-bodied wines, but stay away from anything sweet. The Rieslings and Gerwurtzraminers end up being headaches in a glass

My alternate drink would have to be an ice cold Foster's drawn from a tap.

i wouldnt dare saying that a grape itself is the root of all headache

if at all it's the amount of sugar left and to a certain degree sulfite

a dry riesling is wonderful and even gewürztraminer go well with certain food - but i take it you wouldnt enjoy a sauternes either, or would you?

I prefer my shiraz and merlot surrounding my steak as a merinade...talk about mouth watering.

It's definitely the sugars in the wine that cause my headache. Sauternes sounds like it would give me a problem, but I am always willing to try something new.

Nah, I buy the cheap stuff that comes in a four pack.

One small individual sized bottle is plenty to marinate 3-4 ribeyes.

                        I prefer coffee now.

But when I used to drink, I was a rum & coke man with lime juice (Cuba Libre).

I pretty well tried them all but my favourite was Magaritas in the afternoon. Nothing like a tequila buzz in the middle of a hot afternoon.

Just so you know, she does know or will learn quickly. Hubby drinks vodka and I can smell it through Listerine, Altoids, cigars, and even walls.
