Post Processing Filtering in Xmpeg...what tha dilly

In the postprocessing tab there is a menu called filtering. it gives you options such as bressenham, nearest neighbour, bilinear, mmx bilinear, bicubic, sse bicubic, and pseudo bicubic... what the

hell do all these mean? I am using an Athlon XP1800xp@ 1900mhz with a 200mhz FSB. I would prefer the filter that gives the best performance/quality ratio. The format I use is YV12 and I use DivX5.02

    Thanks,

Put simply, Bicubic is more accurate and gives sharper picture. Bilinear, on the other hand, blurs the video more and hence is suitable for low-bitrate compression. I will not even consider using Nearest Neighbour since it always results in jagged edges.

As to the choice of SSE and MMX, use SSE if your processor supports it. Otherwise, go with MMX. No idea what Bressenham or pseudo bicubic (fake bicubic???) mean though.

BESSENHAM is another resize filter which is fairly fast and of average quality.
