    MPEG-2 to DivX

    Hi

For a long while now, I've been meaning to convert my SVCD to Divx, I dont find too much difference in the files quality wise apart from the actual size. But, after looking around at various sites, it seems that this isnt a common thing to do.

I would just like to know whether it is possible, and if it is, can anyone give me a little tutorial on the software I need and what I need to do? I've heard mentions of Bitrate Calcs' which is the point I got confused at when trying to use them

    Anyway, thanks for the help!

it is not common actually but the procedure is very similar to transcoding vob files to divx:

    - load those mpeg2 files into dvd2avi andf create a project file

    - load this d2v profject file into tools like gordianknot or DVX

    - make your codec/bitrate selections and start the conversion

you could stick to any gordianknot or dvx guide or load the d2v file into viortualdub manually and make the desired settings.
