    vbr audio xvid problems

Hi i'm trying to convert my xvid video to mpg. but i'm having trouble converting the vbr audio. i've used virtualdubmod to convert the audio stream into uncompressed wav format but it seems that virtualdubmod will only convert 5minutes of the stream and the rest is silence. can someone help me please?

that's not due to vd but sounds like you should install a fully working mp3 codec

      welcome to the forum.

it would be very helpful to have some additional information about the movie you trying to transcode.

I suggest that you visit the software section of the site
and download a little tool that is called Gspot,
if you don't have it already.
analyze your movie with that, and post a screenshot in here.

you could also post the file information from the file drop-down menu of VirtualDubMOD in here.

but for now I assume that this little workaround.
      could also help you.
instead of extracting your MP3 sound stream to wav
just demux it with the help of VirtualDubMOD.
you can now use an external MP3 extractor, like CDex,
to convert your MP3 file to wav, in case of VirtualDubMOD is definitely denying extracting your MP3 file.

if this is also not working, I suppose that there's something wrong with your audio stream.

      good luck
