VCD to MPEG gets stuck --hlep plz

Dear Knowledgable Gurus,
Please assist me here. I have a few movies sent to me on VCD. I want to convert them to mpeg and store them on my Hard Drive. I use Isobuster or VCD gear. They work. But some of the VCDs get stuck at various %s. The DVD rom and CDR rom keeps flashing and the the process does not complete. Any suggestions or solutions.

try copying the cd content to your harddrive first and then use vcdgear

Copying VCD to Harddrive is what is done by Isobuster. Straight dat file copying give you a Cyclic redundancy error becasue of the way CD is writen. Any other ideas?

actually, during the copy process it seems to get stuck where the error is (around 37% for one of the VCDs) Vcd Dat files are already Mpeg format. When you watch the video using Power Dvd player, you can start at the 38% (passed teh error) and go to the end but whenever you get to the error there is no read recovery or error ignor. The CD/DVD rom goes spastic! I wonder if there is a way to start a copy process passed a certain error to the end... Or other ideas...
