    Nandub first pass

Do I have to set any settings in "SBC Options" and "Preferences" before I do the first pass or are these things only important in the second pass?

You definitely need to make sure that all filter settings have been finalised before performing it.

As for me, I usually prefer to set all SBC options first before doing the first pass. This is just so that I can do the post-first-pass encoding without having to bother with setting up the SBC options again. The guides indicate that it is alright to do the first pass first before setting the SBC options though.

As for the preferences, the default values work well enough for me, so I usually leave them alone.

Perosnally, it's better to do a 2pass! Better quality and u can specify the file size too in nandub!

Enchanter, can u please contact me some how, either by ICQ or a private message, need to ask u something.

      Thanks

make all desired settings before pass1 and let both passes run one after the other!

resizing settings or filters effect the fiule and thus they need to be identical for pass 1 and 2

              2-pass is better, of course.

As for macroblocks, you simply need to make sure that there is sufficient bit to saturate the blocks.

better saturation: lower resolution and/or increase bitrate

Apply all filters/codec-settings and klick on "Two passes..." (not on "First pass...") and activate "Add operation to joblist..." in the next dialog. Then go to job control and start the processes.
