software equaliser / DSP for avi playback

Hi,

i'm looking for a video player which supports some kind of audio enhancer / DSP plugins, or at least offers a software equaliser. DSP plugins for mp3 playback, such as DFX in winamp, make a huge difference to sound quality, Windows Media player does something similar which sounds at least as good. For this reason i mostly use windows media, but this brings its own problems as i'm sure you're aware...

my problem is, though i've tried lots of excellent divx players none have any sound processing bits, so at least on my hifi everything sounds dull and flat compared to playback in windows media.

so does anyone know of any good players with both flawless divx playback and audio processing to liven the sound up?

no idea, which avi player might offer this but winamp3 can play videofiles, did you try that *workaround*?

thanks for the idea, just tried but it's giving me audio sync problems - so need either to solve that or find something else...

let me ask this question:

WHY do you need/want to use a dsp plugin for avi playback?
the file you have in mind did you create it yourself?

this is for any video... if i play through windows media player the sound is far richer and fuller. Through another player that doesn't manipulate the audio it makes my hifi sound like cheap desktop computer speakers by comparison.
i don't think this is just because of my setup... if you listen to mp3 music, try a winamp plugin like DFX or enhancer and you'll see what i mean

The Sasami Player makes a built-in equalizer available.

By the way, try using the older (better) v.6.4 of Windows Media Player (Start>>Run>>MPLAYER2.EXE from your desktop), if you're presently using a newer version.

Last but not least, if you have any files in .WMV format, the "Windows Audio Decoder" (available under "Properties">>"Advanced") includes an equalizer...

I tried Satsami and it looks pretty powerful and flexible but my poor P3 600 can't cope. However i've just figured out that closing some stuff in the background to free up resources solves the audio sync problems i've been having with media player, so i think i'll be sticking with that...
