Hi. I recently downloaded and installed the DivX Pro Codec 5.0.3 and the Divx Player 2.0 alpha 5 but whenever I close it down I get this error: DIVX PLAYER 2 caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 016f:bff7b997. I don't get this error when the player is opened...only when it is closed. I have never used it yet to play anything!
I can repeat this error regardless of what other programs are open or closed so I'm thinking it's an issue with Windows 98. The ReadMe file that came with the 2.0alpha5 and was updated on 6-12-02 indicates that Windows 98 SE is a minimum requirement. When I viewed Divx Player requirements before downloading I thought that it had said that Windows 98 was ok. Anybody running Windows 98 (not SE) and using the 2.0 alpha Divx Player without any trouble? Thanks for any thoughts.
(Note- my rig is a Pentium III 550 with 128 MB SDRAM. All drivers are up to date and the BIOS is too. Direct X is version 7.0a and a dxdiag showed no problems. I have an OEM ATI Rage 128 VR RL AGP (English) card with 8MB of display memory. The system has played DVD movies and .avi movies (using WMP 7.1) without a problem previously, if that means anything.)
