first frame freezed and audio goes on

Some files don't pass the first image and the sound goes on.
I've check them in GSpot and it gives me no error.
I've tried to play it in virtualdub and I get the same problem though if alternate play and stop the frame changes.
Any clue??

which codec is this?

with divx3 there was a so called frozen frame phenomenon
an anitfreeze filter could solve the playback problem:

this is not possible with divx5 but playback with divx5 has an option called *smooth playback* which should ALWAYS be turned OFF as this option can actually stop playback as well!

Thanks, your tip about smooth playback made me discover I had a old version of Divx5, I installed the new one and problem solved. Next time I have to check for new codec versions before I start posting problems
