    playing avi file crash comp, help plz

    like stated above when i try to play any type of avi or divx file it causes my system to reboot. what codecs should i download and which ones i shouldnt have on my pc. can it be caused by over heating? anything else i should try ( sorry if this was asked before, couldnt find it on the search)

    Your system shouldn't reboot, at worse just freeze or not play the file. Sounds more like a hardware or software problem. Load your file in Avicodec or Gspot and check the file info. d/l and install newest drivers especially for your video card.

      could be a problem with your mainboard chipset driver

      i, too, had this once until i updated my via drivers which settled this rebooting problem

      of course it might be something completely different as well - like e.g. a heat problem or agressive ram-timing settings in your bios .....

      try the chipset driver first
