Help me! plz!

I just bought a laptop and have installed Divx 5 on it. And when I play some (not all) of my AVIs I get :


ON DIVX'S Tha Playa- no sound but great picture quality

ON Windows Media Player from XP - unviewable picture but great sound


for all the ones that have a problem, they suffer from both issues


On my Desktop I have Divx 4.11. And all my AVIs work just fine there. Did I download some pack of codecs a long time ago. I thought that I installed all the same things on my laptop. I found a Divx Codec v3.11 ALPHA set that I installed it didnt help???

I'm lost and need help.

It would be interresting to know what audio codec these files use.

load the file into virtualdub, select file information, and post everything it says.

i tried.....

i tried to use virtualdub and it said:


"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DIVX' (OpenDIVX)

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."


I hope this helps....b/c it doesnt help me.

opendivx is indicative for divx4

install the latest divx 5.02 and you should have the proper codec.
