Actually I forgot.. Microsoft may like that idea. Everytime they get the computer OS messed up, the user must obtain another activation code again for a fee. I am sure Microsoft would implement it in thier new OS, and you would be a sucker enuf to buy Microsoft (As they control most PC's). Not like it would really change anything, as Microsoft pulls enuf crap already.

    Good money grab. lol
Government throws more money at a problem, so it looks like they are making a difference.

however, p2p beats usenet as far as porn-oriented files are concerned

                          Bad Hatch.

If I am not mistaken didn't his website have an unlicenced version of a flash menu? He is talking about copyright infringement when he is doing it himself? Stealing content? Putting it on his website? Now porn? Damn....

I think it's a case of "picking the wrong fight". Hatch really should have checked and make sure all his affairs were in order before he started critisizing others - especially in an area that he knew nothing about.

Anyway, I think the major problem now is the that the RIAA (and soon, the MPAA) are turning their attention away from large scale pirates (ie. those with duplication machines), and turning their attention to P2P users :

Hatch's "plan" was just another (although more stupid) way in which this new trend is showing itself.

I would not be surprised if they start monitoring forums (including this one) for evidence of pirating, which is why I've put in rule #5 and #6.

Indeed, especially when they're even dragging the FBI into this (see THE HULK case) instead of the fbi actually protecting america in whatever aspect (terrorism, murders) they're going after the REAL criminals which are like me sitting here and downloading stuff which i WOULDN'T buy anyway.
