You know, I don't mind paying somewhere between $15-22 for a DVD. But it's gotta be worth it, if it has lots of extra features, commentaries and a good movie overall, then it's worth it. But if it's a crap movie or a DVD they just threw together with nothing else on it, it's not worth it. Kinda funny how for less then double the price of a CD, you can get so much more stuff. But hey, CD prices are another story lol. I say if the movie is good the $20 price isn't bad.

yep that's a good spot. Or if you want the new movies, get them the day they come out and they're way cheaper at best buy (like $14.99 sometimes)

Simply buying DVD's is a LOT cheaper than buying expensive 'puters/software and ripping them.

good point squirrel, however, that theory only really works if you buy the computer for the soul purpose of ripping. I think it's safe to say most people have computer for work/school just because you have to have them to get some things done. So yea, if you didn't NEED a computer for anything else, it would be cheaper, but heck, if you got it, use it lol. Although, personally, if a movie is really good I will always buy it. Simpsons Season 3 next week for example and Back to the future....if they ever fix the damn dvd and ship it to stores lol.

Well...if you ever get nailed, tell 'em that's all you use your equipment for, and make the argument. "I'm just practicing for my future career as a film editor."

                  LOL!

                  Damn straight!

I wasn't happy with the way their editors are splicing their films! Like in spaceballs "Niiiice dissolve!" That was beaaaaautiful! Now these other films try it and it's all wrong....ALL WRONG I TELLS YA!

I'm just helping them out. And they're saving money! I work for free!

But yes, it is a hobby and I don't make a profit, hell I think I let someone watch one of the movies I made once or twice and they didn't even copy it. I usually don't watch them again after a few times, but it's just fun to "tweak" these things to see if you can make them better and learn a little more.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some inverse teclining to do

if you look back through the last 20yrs we the people will always be able to copy what we want when we want remember when they said the humble VCR would destroy the movie industry and did it hapen did it F**k people will always go to the cinema to watch movies but at least if you download you can watch some of the crap without having to pay for it, tomb raider 2 terminator3 LXG all big mega bucks films and funnily enough all crap...spend hardly any money and get a few good character actors (john Cusack, Ray liotta, and the Busey) and you get i.e. Identity not the best film in the world but one of the best this year..ive decided to start a new thread

I think the only money piracy costs the industry is the money they keep spending trying to stop it. If a guy is going to download a movie off the internet it means he never planed to go buy the DVD to begin with. So the industry never had his money to begin with so howed they lose it? How the hell can they acont for lost revenue based on something that they wernt going to sell anyway? It's just another DVD thats going to collect dust on a store shelf realy.

What all this piracy stuff comes down to to me is they dont like you watching there crap for free. it must bother em all night and keep em awake or something.

It isnt at all a mater of them losing money it's them just wanthing more. Has anyone ever bothered to ask the MPAA to show proof of lost income? I personaly havent noticed a decline...

People that are going to buy DVD will always buy em and people that are going to rip em off will always rip em off.... Me I buy my DVDs. I own a pretty good collection to. I also download movies all the time to. I dont belive crap movies deserve to be paid for. So I watch it free and if it I feel they erned there money I go out and buy it.

anyway I dont know and I dont realy care anymore. we like to pretend where a democratic country (USA) but where as communest as anyone else if you ask me. I think the Iraqies where more free then we are.... (sorry if that line offends anyone but I realy think it;s true.)

I'll tell you what costs the industry most money ...

People telling each other how bad a movie is - that's what costs the industry most money. How long before industry demands legal penalties for criticising movies?

Once they have that one sorted out, then they have the *major* plughole fixed.
