I will have to burst this macrovision theory do to my experiences lately with the white bar. My tapes are not accual bought or rented movies but just VCR tapes that record from a OTA broadcasts. So there is absolutely no macrovision block on my tapes.

The first thing If I press play in any of my tapes I get a white block for a few seconds then the white block goes away as soon as the play disappears from the screen. If I fast forward or rewind the white block appears.
I have come across my first tape that is causing more troubles for the first 15 min there is a white bar that appears then goes away then re appears after 15min it is totally gone doesn't come back in a 2hr 20min capture.

My theory it is some kind of video sync error not a accual macrovision block.

First thing I will do is I will record to another VHS tape to see if it solves this problem. Next I will then install the WDM 1.08 drivers.

I am not convinced as of yet that this is a macrovision problem rather than a VHS tape problem that the digital recorders pick up.

Great...Now where the heck is it?!

There are a plethora of sites and forums telling you to download the wdm 1.08 to solve the "white rectangle" problem when you search for it. But no one has any links to the thing. Could someone, ANYONE, please post a link to where this driver might be downloaded.

There is a ATI Macrovision remover at doom9 in the Support Utils category.
