Another great feature of Ri4m is that you wont get your keycode cancelled, cause of course its free and there is no keycode.
Why do I mention the obvious.
Well apparently, Slysoft of Anydvd has apparently gotten real strict and is cancelling keycodes.
Over at CDfeaks, a goodly number of Anydvd owners are livid and saying that their legit codes have been cancelled.
There must be at least five threads on this subject locked today because things got well... contentious.
I'd say Anydvd is suffering a huge bad PR problem now, judging by alll the discontented owners.

is it CDF does not have a rant-sub forum like US, I would guess it go on and on I never want to buy a program that make me pay twice if I have two computers, treating customers like criminal

AnyDVD's company practices may be strange, but please let me remind members to respect a place like CD Freaks. It is not a Johnny Come Lately place and deserves our respect, as we do theirs.

For the record, i was not knocking CDF. There is a lot of info over there. Rather, it just happened to be the forum where all the Anydvd "action" was happening.

the timing of their 25% price increase to $50 USD in Jan is not good given all this bad PR they are getting over key restrictions. Dont know what they did, but the volume of complaints really got heavy over the last few days.

I know you weren't knocking CDF and I'm sure we all respect the place, despite their propsensity to hit the locked button (that is their right, of course and it will not be me who calls that into question).

Quite frankly, I reckon Cleary has a case and a strong one. I especially applaud him for keeping cool in the face of his character being called into question by some of the lesser lights there. Negligence is not the issue, nor is keygens. Someone should only have a licence cancelled if they mean to do something - i.e. willfully default on the licence (by posting their keys or keygens on the net for example). No-one should be punished for being negligent, unless criminally so.

Anybody who doesn't have a firewall or AV could be deemed to be negligent. So what? Does that make them candidates for removal of their licence? Under Australian laws at least, that is unfair trading, punishable under our Trade Practices Act, and I strongly suspect that will also be the case in the Virgin Islands. In other words, Slysoft is probably illegally cancelling valid licenses, irrespective of the EULA. Keys that are distributed via torrents are another matter - they are illegally obtained. Slysoft will argue, how are we to know who is who? The answer is of course to give the benefit of the doubt as many have stated at CDF (and Slysoft finally acceded to) to the real purchaser on proof of purchase and issue a new key. Slysoft have apparently gone the extra yard in this regard and have setup a find your lost key service, for which they should be commended.

What they should not be commended for is cancelling valid licences because someone effectively had it stolen from their machine - especially since they are fully aware there is a trojan virus out there that does exactly this, which they have been unable to stifle. That is unjust and highly unfair to purchasers, who probably have rights in equity against them - but how to sue in the Virgin Islands (that's why they are there after all, isn't it), especially for tiny amounts?

For all these reasons, and because their product is inferior, I will never recommend their product.

I am thinking there will be a rise in downloads of RipIt4Me.

If Slysoft is doing this I am thinking they wont be selling a lot in the future and probably on their way out.



I had a similar problem once with another program I had before I had a good firewall a key code was ripped from my pc and apparently used by many.

Once I showed proof that I paid for this program I was given a new key.

It seems all they are doing is making their customers very mad.

I personally find it rather amusing, there are other programs that will do the trick that dont require a ley code at all.

They are looking at the problems on a case-by-case basis. So if you do have a problem with a key being stolen, email them with the following info.

I don't see how they are cancelling valid licenses because the ones they do cancel, are the ones found on file sharing sites. Unless you mean they are cancelling the keys stolen from people. Making those cases valid?

As far as I know, there is no keygens for the recent AnyDVD program. I follow the warez scene closely with a few of programs and send off deletion requests for illegal cracks and keys that I find. I have never found a keygen. There is a possibility that there is one out there, but I am fairly certain. Though I must say there is a bit of a coincidence with the timing of all this. First Slysoft start cracking down on the way people bypass the trial now all these problems? I don't know... That's something that

At first I thought Slysoft was being a bit too tough on the customer. They have now released it is better to give the benifit of the doubt. Good luck to all those honest people have had their key cancelled and are wanting to be treated carefully .

Yes, I saw your post on CDF saying the same thing about warez sites. Quite frankly, I wouldn't know.

The point I (and others at CDF) am trying to make is simply because a key gets out "in the wild" is not at all conclusive that the person who bought the prog is the bad doer. More than just the "benefit of the doubt", it is up to the company to prove conclusively that the user broke the licence terms by distributing his key, as opposed to simply assuming that to be the case and requiring him to cough up another $39 for a new key. That's unfair and unlawful and can be considered theft. In this country (and I am pretty damn sure in the Virgin Islands), one is innocent until proven guilty. Companies can't just willy nilly go round assuming you are an evil doer and cancel your right to use something you have paid for. Not without proof.

What they can, and should do, is contact the user and say, your key is out there - we've cancelled it. Here's a new one, be bloody careful next time.

What SlySoft did eventually do was bow to the pressure exerted on it to provide natural justice to affected users and then its supporters on CDF dressed it up as Slysoft being wonderful, fair and magnanimous (which is exactly what it wasn't being 24 hours earlier).

Quite frankly, mate, this type of big brotherish corporate behaviour makes me sick. Customers deserve to be treated more than just "carefully" (as you put it). They deserve respect - they should not have to plead for that through a forum which has members who think (and say) they are mad or criminals, or via unanswered emails to the company.

I am sure if a person was to really look hard enough there is probably a Key Gen for every program out there, Good hackers will be able to get the key / serial numbers from computers online no matter how well the pc is protected.

No matter how wrong it is there will always be Hackers out there and if every software company just cancled out every Key or serial number due to it being Hacked then no one in the world would have a program that works.

It makes you wonder if thats not just a scam of some sort to gain money.
I am thinking that maybe the sales have dropped since other programs have come out that are free.

The compition with the free ware may be killing them.

Whoops I meant to say 'fairly'. But yes, I do agree with you on many of those comments. A couple of people have already posted on the forum stating they've got a new key. It can only go up from here...
