    Volume missing in TW

    Hi FallenAngel,

1st, let me thank you for a great little utility. I appreciate all the work you have put into it so far.

Here are some issues I came across when I started using it lately:

    DVD: The 6th Day
Issue: Only a TITLE: line shows up but no VOLUME:

The problem I have is that if the VOLUME: entry is not present, I can still enter a description in the TITLE: area, however my DVD player (Sony DVP-CX985V) does not recognize this line to populate the DVD players menu with it and hence the menu shows up blank.

I noticed this on another DVD already (The Mask Of Zorro - Superbit Edition - Disc 2). I noticed this AFTER I burned the DVD. I found it strange that Disc 1 (DVD+R DL) did show the title in the DVD players menu, but the second disc (DVD+R SL) did not. I went back to my computer and after comparing the IFO files I noticed that Disc 2 had not VOLUME: entry in TW. I'll attach the IFO file of The 6th Day (since I have the same issue with this DVD) and hope you can let me know on how I can fix this problem so that I can fianlly burn the DVD.

    DVD: Shanghai Noon
Issue: TW is unable to change the title due to too many Title entries

Another DVD I wanted to burn onto a DVD+R DL disk is the Shanghai Noon movie. I wanted to modify the Title to the DVD to format it the same way I format all my DVD titles I have done so far. After entering the information into TW, I clicked on Save Changes and TW gave me the following error:

    DVD_Text has 2048 Character limit
Current Size 2462: Reduce Text Content

Is there any way to fix this without removing all the tiles that they had on the original DVD?

I am also attaching the IFO for Shanghai Noon so that you can have a look at it as well.

Again, I appreciate the time and effort you put into this program as well as the support you offer through this forum.

      WOW!

I didn't expect a response this fast let alone a new version of the program that has a fix already build in!

      FallenAngel, you are the best!

I tried the new version on The 6th Day DVD and followed your instructions and enabled the 'Rewrite Text' feature and it worked!

Now I can add the title information to the volume. I need to burn it and see if the player picks it up. I assume so. If it doesn't work, I'll post again

      Thanks again.

The Last fix wasn't "elegant" just down and dirty the fix in the below ver. has been moved into a "Function" menu and can be used after the compiliation has been loaded.

Added a function to reduce Dummy Title nn entries to T nn (Should help if 2048 Limit reached)

Added a function to parse the compiliation filename to First Volume and Title entries

          Sorry Off Topic
CuL8er, What dual layer discs did you get to work with the Sony DVP-CX985V.
I have the same changer and haven't been able to find a DL disc that works. Thanks

            Hi Raddad,

I use RiDATA Double Layer DVD+R 2.4X 8.5GB discs. So far I have burned almost 100 DL discs and only had one coaster. The one disc that did not burn appears to have the complete layer 0 on it but stops right at the layer transition to layer 1. These discs are not cheap, however it beats buying the originals again. I use them primarily to make backup copies of all the movies my daughter owns (my wife tends to take them out of the changer to paly them in the portable DVD player so that my daughter and her friends can watch the movie while she is watching something else on the big screen).

FallenAngel, 1st, thank you for the update, you are amazing!

I noticed there is a screen update issue in this version, it appears that the right hand section of the page that has the 'view dvd text' button on ot is somehow superimposed on the page that has the 'view current menu' button on it once you select the 'reset the current DVD_text segment content to dummy entries' from the functions menu.

Also, the program does (unfortunately) not allow to use CTRL+C (copy) and CTRL+V (paste) in the test entry fields. It looks like only the righ click copy and paste functions work. Would it be possible to allow the CTRL+C and CTRL+V features in these fields ? (only if it doesn't involve to many code changes!)

            Thanks again.

The Ctrl C/v foible is inherent to VC++ 6.0 formview class(Which is why they added the right click bit -Very code heavy to trap)

The Overlay bit seems to be fixed in below - Tis always the little things that slip by

Just Uploaded to TW site a new 2.5Beta
Heres a list of fixes so far no doubt there will be more before I get this stable

..Ctrl+C Ctrl+v enabled for Edit fields
..Create Standard compliant Dvd_text segment (Will overwrite existing)--Function Menu
..Move Compiliation filename to DVD_TEXT Volume and Title 1 entries
..Reduce Title nn entries to Tnn (DVD_TEXT)

..A method to simplify original menus readded to compiliation so the internal Pgc/Menu button navigation goes directly to the selected item.
This simplifies original menus to act like the generics (which always seem to work) bypassing navigation hangups without having to learn how PGC navigation works.
(In Menu View click the menu (It will expand --Click Top Entry to collapse) then click Fix Menu -- use the viewer to Fill in the form for First Play,Chapter and Setup Menu Lu's that hang up or go to unexpected places during play.

The initial settings in this form are Best guess at this point.

..Changed the Gui for selecting menu to add to compiliation --Double click on collapsed entries to change. Note : When Selecting menus for titles its usually the largest (Just hover over the Vts entries)

Note Ocassionally Nero kicks a Non compliant warning when burning --But everything seems to be in order (I've been ignoring it without mishap) and all progs DvdShrink,IfoEdit,PgcEdit,Players seem to like the resultant "fixed" files

Fixed: VMG number of Titlesets and segment table rewrites for a wider range of Dvd Non compliant/badly authored discs.

                Myriad Gui Fixups.

I'm shooting for a simple way to use TW to create 2 movie (Movie Only)compiliations reauthored with Shrink (Ex Resident Evil 1,2) on a (DL disk) using the MenuTemplates (For ex Menu2Movie for root navigation) and the original menu's for each movie. For users without any knowledge of Dvd navigation.
It seems to work fine if both original menus are "Fixed" after adding (Thereby bypassing pre/post menu/cell commands leading back to the vmg, missing titles, and menus entirely) if anyone wants to try this.

Remember its still a Beta so test before burning

Could you provide a link to where you get these exact discs?
Also can you give me your procedure for backing up a full disc with Title?
Just PM me if you'd like.

I just tried using TitleWriter and it seems to not work on my Sony DVP-CX850D changer. I am pretty sure that I used the app correctly. When I put the DVD in the changer it fails to read the DVD. But the DVD runs fine on standalone players. Is there something that I may need to do for the older changers?

                    Let me know.

                    Thanks

No - That changer isn't that old.
What created the files DvdShrink or other?

Pls open compiliation in TW--Pull up screenshot of the DVD Text area -zip up the screenshot and the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and I'll look at it.

I suggest Undo and Burn pre TW files to a RW - see if it works.

Then click the Reset To Dummy entries in Functions Add your text and burn to a RW again.

That player does seem to be finicky about so-so media or burning to fast

I tied to upload the .zip file but it would let me. Maybe because I am a junior member.

The ifo that I am editing is from a DVD home movie made in Roxio.
