Hi there,
I'm very new to DVD authoring/burning but finding it very easy thanks to TMPGEnc DVD Author, which makes it all very simple.
I've managed to make a couple of DVDs from video tapes of home movies, including menus.
However, I've noticed a slight glitch on one of the menus.
The DVD basically has 12 different video clips, so I have a 12 part scene menu. When I put the burned DVD into a DVD player, all parts of the menu work perfectly, and are correctly linked to the appropriate video.
The scenes are set out thus:
1__________7
2__________8
3__________9
4__________10
5__________11
6__________12
But, when using the up and down buttons to flick through the items in the menu, scene 10 is always skipped over. The highlight colour goes direct from 9 to 11 (and 11 to 9 when moving the highlight upwards). The only way to get to scene 10 on the menu is to highlight scene 4 then go across to the right. Once you get to 10, it can be selected and it does play the appropriate video.
This skipping of scene 10 in the menu also occurs when playing the DVD on my PC, and when I use the up/down arrows to shift the highlight up and down.
My only idea of the cause was that the scene 10 menu text was slightly out of alignment with the rest, which might have explained why it couldn't be reached by shifting vertically. But having checked the alignment, this proved not to be the case. All menu items are perfectly aligned.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what the cause might be? I'm rather frustrated and out of ideas. It's very annoying as the DVD works perfectly apart from that, and I'm frankly amazed at how simple making my own DVDs was! Being a perfectionist, this little glitch is really bugging me!
