    Burning DVD Files

I have a Question. I recently burnt a dvd and all the files appear to be correct, but when i put it in the player it says "incorrect disc". I have never had this problem before...any ideas? It does work perfectly on the computer dvd just not regular dvd players.

what software was used to burn? have you used these discs in the player before with success? what is the media ID of the discs?

My bet is that it is a PAL disc and you have an NTSC dvd player or vice versa

wow,i never though there could be a problem with the players and formats/pal-ntsc...is there any player that works with both?

its weird that dvd+r wont work,i thought they were more compatible with players than -Rs

The funny thing about players is the cheaper ones tend to be able to play both PAL and NTSC. The high end ones usually can't.

it's true. my el cheapo "sungale" plays everything. my much more expensive toshiba only likes -R and NTSC no PAL.

for the others you have to change one of the counters in the ROM to "0" i.e. region free.

                      Thanks for replying.

I didn't expect replys so quickly, thanks. I have burnt a ton of movies and never had this issue before. How do you tell whether its PAL or NTSC. Is there some way of knowing the diff. I mean the file plays perfect on my comp.

computers are perfectly able to play both NTSC and PAL. IFOedit will be able to tell you if it is PAL or not.

I tried IfoEdit and it is PAL. Is there a way of converting the file without losing anything? And thank you all for your help. It's been most helpfull.

You can try and just patch the pal info to NTSC using ifoedit. Simply change all instances of PAL to NTSC
