I came across this the other nigth when I captured from my VCR to the PC. Naturally we are talking about VHS as the source which is poor quality but this is the the audio I have. I noticed after going through my process and burning the DVD files to DVD and playing in my player with a 2 chan amp system I notice some crakle when the volume increases during play but this is only in a few places on the 2 hr. DVD. I tried changing my bits rate from 196 to aprox. 300 and it didn't change at all. In my case it is the VHS technology which is hurting the TV capture of the audio. I think you are stuck with it. I have no static, just the odd crackle when the volume increases and whan I say that I don't mean cranking up the volume on the amp. it crackles at any volume in those few spots on the DVD.Comment
