Blutach -- TW isn't a very complex install if I don't scan for all possible prior ver. so I just grabbed a proggie off the net.
The Install creator I used (CreateInstallfree) doesn't contain that option

I'll probably have to use msi at some point. I wonder what R0lz uses

The Preset for that field is in TW Main>>Settings>>Change Settings
On Make Menu boot that preset is applied to each Movie
Then the user can alter Create Audio.. Menu option In Make Menu for each individual movie
it is not saved from MakeMenu. (which movie would I choose the setting for the first , last ... Hmm)
I really don't want to save each and every Create Audio/Subtitle menu... preset in registry for each movie. (Aside from the fact that they probably wouldn't apply across multiple compiliations with multiple numbers of movies)

PgcEdit has no installer, but I use internal Tcl/Tk procedures to add installation options (such as icon creation and file extension assignation) in the Options menu. (However, I should create RPMs for Linux. It's even more important than a Windows installer.)

I'll probably just end up creating a install proggie of my own. Spending 4 Grand for it isn't an option. And MS Installer is a mess.
Although -- Except for the shortcut targets the cheapie I'm using does the job.

Yeah, I should use my eyes first and not my mouth. (something my father always said) I found it right after I posted, so I deleted it. Then I crashed my windows xp. Power outage ( 2 actually) Missing or system file. So because I was broke, I had to wait for a new hard drive, so as to not lose all my projects and stuff. And finally today I have finished all drivers and updates and you name it. God I hope I dont have to do this again for along time. Im glad I know how to do it, saved $100's. Anyways thanks again I'm getting ready to try it again with the new installation. Im sure it will work like before.

Yes -- I hardcoded it to code en (0x14 -- study ifoedit view of dvdtext segment)
I could add code to support it (Tw DVD_TEXT editor font selector and a code selector) but I have no way to test it (would need a hard player from the "region").

No way to know the fonts in the Players.

The Players (both soft and hard would somehow have to use different fonts in different countries (??System font -- ??other)

Heres a test -- Find a commercial DVD with DVDtext coded jp (I believe)

Does the language Display correctly with the system font selected into (Kanji -- I think)

I'll come up with a testbed to support it and see where that leads

BTW everything works good! Just need to learn the intricacies of the program, like changing the border around the menu and background. I'll get there.

Tetsuro_ja -- Yes I've already looked at dshow long ago -- the overhead is prohibitive for the gain.
Its more oriented for "playing"

My problems are a bit more fundamental -- MS may say one thing -- but how are the settop manufacturers implementing it.
As near as I can make out the so called Dvd Specifications are often fairy tales -- very few apps and hardware actually adhere to them.

I guess my questions can be answered by someone who owns a Multi disk juke in japan

With Settop Default language set to Japanese
1. Does the Disk Selection menu come up in Kanji , English or both (If it hits a disk coded en instead of ja
2. Does the LED scroll Kanji or Other on title change (or chapter change if applicable)
3. I'm fairly sure that the Kanji fonts are a combination of unicode english charset images and Kanji images -- Am I all wet?

Its pointless to code the DVDtext to ja/kanji if the boxes don't support it

As to Japanese charsets --
Although there are various Japanese charsets such as JIS, Shift-JIS, unicode, etc, Microsoft has adopted CP932 (based on Shift-JIS) as a Japanese standard charset on all OS's from MS-DOS to MS-Windows. In CP932, 1-byte codes and 2-byte codes can be mixed. 1-byte codes include ISO646-US (English characters, 0x21-0x7E) and JISX201 katakana (0xA1-0xDF). 2-byte codes include Kanji characters (0x8140-0x84BE, 0x889F-0x9872, 0x989F-0x9FFC, 0xE040-0xEAA4).
