Removing and Editing Audio from DVD

I want to remove the audio from my holiday DVDs and edit the subsequent MP3 file that I am left with. Something very simple where I can select a section of audio by playing it and choosing the start and end position and then create a separate MP3 file from that and edit it if required. Any advice on which is the best software to use please ?

Try Goldwave. It will accept the vob file. So,no need to separate. If you still want to separate the audio, use PGCDemux.

      Hi Paglamon,

      Any "Freeware" choice to "Goldwave"?

Goldwave has a very long "trial" period to allow you to work with your files. I am pretty sure Audacity will work w/ vob files too, it is freeware.

Don't try it at home, unless you turn the volume way down!!! I just tried it and a 200 Mb VOB pretended to import but was nothing but a couple second very loud screech on playback...

Ugh. I just tried the same after using PgcDemux to export the audio. Still not working for me.

Any other thoughts on a good way to separate the audio from a DVD movie? I have a live band DVD that I want to export the audio from so I can listen to it in my car.

PgcDemux is certainly the best demuxer. It works, trust me. But it extracts the stream, usually in AC3 format, not a file ready to be played. You might have to convert it to another format to play it everywhere.
