best copy program for dvd-r's?

1) What is the best copy program for DVD-Rs in terms of quality and speed? (i.e. you want a 1:1 clone of a DVD-R)

Instant Copy: a bit complicated because not made for this purpose
CloneDVD: has its focus on shrinking I guess
DVD Shrink: i don't think it'll work
DVD-Copy (part of MovieJack3): quite okay but slow
Alcohol 120 %: did not work out
other?

In my opinion there is no great 1:1 copy tool for DVD-Rs as it is CloneCD for CD-Rs.
Any ideas or hints?

2) What is the best program for copying DVD-Videos (=shrinking to 4.38 GB)?

One of the above list or another?
I tried all of them.
At present I use DVD Shrink because of its magnificient speed.
But: there is no pc-playback possible because the pc won't recognize the dvd-r in contrast to my tv/dvd-player

have you tried the pinnacle systems
solution for shrinking a DVD to DVD-r?
It is not that fast and you have to
decrypt the dvd before... but still worth a try!

this is how i do it and it works fine for me:- first use DVD Decrypter then i use DVD2One this prog lets u take out the audio commentrys and subtitles and foreign lang. then i use nero to burn it. hope this helps

I use DVD Decryptor for ripping, and DVD2One for encoding/transcoding the movie portion of the DVD with only one audio stream (normally AC3 6ch) and subtitles if necessary. For burning, I use CopyToDVD. All three programs are very easy to use, and produce great quality DVD-R's. I would never recommend a 1:1 copy, as your chances of losing a bit of video quality would increase. Compression artifacts are inevitable in longer movies, regardless of which program you use. Yes, I've seen a few comparison tests...but making examples of only one or two movies in my opinion virtually nullifies any claims as to which program is more efficient. To me, it's worth it to ditch the extras. And depending upon how the original source was authored, compression may not be necessary.

highest transcoding quality will be achieved using either tmpeg or cce as encoder.

i prefer DVD2DVD-R for long titles.
dvd2dvd-r uses CCE and thus provides me with superb video quality.

for short movies i prefer dvd2one 1.23

I use dvdshrink and then burn with copytodvd. 11 for 11 so far!
