i must say i found converting from any other format using gordion knot tmpgenc canopous etc far more reliable than dvd authoring, dvd authoring is simplicity - but if you have problems, sheesh, thats a lot of coasters

solution

i have changed dvd-r brand to a branded pc world type and have now found that all my squeezed movies work ust fine.
Amazingly it was the ritek media causing the problems.
