Burn Process Failed Shrink and Nero

Newbie 1st post - but successful with Decrypter for 5, and Shrink and Nero for DVD9. But got Burn Process Failed [twice] trying Shrink "Episodes" process and Nero. I noticed while watching Original on tv that a place was blurry and jumped but able to 2x Reverse and Play and watch ok so don't know if relevant. I don't think I've made any changes to system since prior successful burns. I see to post "Log". Thank you.

I would change the media you are using to a top of the line name brand and reduce your burning speed to 2x and use a RW until this issue can be resolved. The things you describing are mostly related to media.

- top of line brand name what? I'm using "Maxell" DVD-R
- how do i reduce burning speed to 2x?
- RW mean use a Read Write DVD instead of -R? Different brand?
- issue can be resolved? What mean? Who,When,What?How?
- does my problem only relate to Shrink "Episodes" Burn?

Agree with lgha that the media is most certainly your main problem. Nec with original firmware is very tricky to burn with on not supported DVDs.

But it's a NEC and there is a solution. Go to the forum for hacked firmwares and see if you can find any patch that includes your mediacode of the discs you are trying to burn.

Most companies do not make their own blank media (disc) so what you buy today may or may not be made by the same company of the disc that you bought yesterday or tomorrow. I would suggest you use a program like:

to tell you just WHO made the disc you are presently using. A large number of poster here prefer to use Ritek/Ridat G04 Grade A disc for their compatability with burners and dvd players. You may want to check your burner and player to see what others have to say:

The reference to using a RW (rewritable) disc is so you will not waist any more disc until you can get this issue fixed. With a RW disc you can use it over and over again - not the case with a normal disc. I would also un-check the "autoburn with Nero" in the preferences of Shrink and burn with Nero as a seperate step:

In the Nero set-up you will be able to reduce your burn speed to 2x (if disc permits it). The slower burn speed reduces problems with play back of the disc in a standalong dvd player.

TY Cynthia and lgha . From just reading “Firmware” in Encyclopedia, doesn’t sound like I can just download update like any other? Didn’t find “media code” there or google. what’s it mean and how/where find what I need to know to look up?
Burner is external using USB. Used same maxell dvd-r in prior 9 successful attempts. Why problem now?

Thank you for your help.
Here are my answers.
Failures: I was unable to Burn a Maxell DVD4x in two tries using
-1st Shrink Re-author/Nero and
-2nd Shrink Full Disk/Nero
The Burn Process Failed Logs for each are below.

Now a question as I saw this posted at NEC per upgrade to firmware 1.07:
“ND-2500A - What will be changed with firmware 1.07?
This update does only add new media information to your burner,
there will be nothing changed on writing method or problems in
conjunction with some burner softwares.”
“The DvD+R medias listed will be recognized with firmware 1.07, but be
informed, they won`t be added to our list of recommend medias , because
there is no guarantee for optimal burn results and performance.”

So, if I understand it, 1.07 only recognizes additional medias, but I will only use -RW, and it doesn’t help with burn problems, so should I still take a chance upgrading?

- I also saw that Maxell 4x for my DVD-R attempts seems to be supported as it is listed on the NEC ND-2500A Media List as one of those Recommended per:

Success: I then took the above referenced Re-authored File and converted it to .ISO which I then burned with Decrypted - and even though I initially got an “I/O Error- The Semaphone timeout period has expired”, I cliked on “Retry” and it processed successfully.
And, I used the same maxell dvd-r disc that previously had the Burn Process Failed using Shrink/Full Disk/Nero.
I played it 16x thru my tv and dvd player and the video seems to be complete. Success.
Please tell me what has happened, what’s going on??????

There is one strange thing in your log from Nero:

I have never understand why this happens. It should state 6.3.1.14.

(And please delete your serialnumber from the post)

The only suggestion is to use Neros uninstall program to erase your current version installed and then download the updates files from Nero and then install your serialnumber. Don't use your own installation discs. I assume you have a full version license for Nero and not some bundled version that came along with your burner?

Updating the firmware could be worth a try - but on the other hand your discs works with DVDDecrypter so it's up to you.

TY. While using Shrink, I just clik on the Burn tab in Backup. Is that where computer should recognize Nero API Version 6.3.1.25 instead of 6.0.0.0? I didn’t see 6.3.1.14.
I should not have to Open Nero StartSmart separately should I?
I have retail purchased nero6 ultra edition. I will uninstall and update per your suggestion.

Well, I don't think the Nero version is your big problem. So wait with that.

You should look more to the semaphore/reset thing. There is something with your drivers that are not ok.
