First off, this is a backup of a backup.
I have tried to maintain the same media (Memorex DVD+R), but my first "batch" was a 4x speed, while the new batch is a 8x speed.
I have had no problems with the 8x, doing normal backups. However, when I use Nero's DVD-to-DVD copy (I have two drives), I have gotten repeated failures. Well, that's not intirely true. The first two attemps passed wonderfully.
The error experienced is at the bottom of this post.
I have tried using DVD Shrink 3.1 to do it over (to test the source media), and I get the cyclic redundancy error. The source media is fine, and plays in a stand alone player as well as my PC. Do I have to use the original and go through the entire encoding process again? I hope not, as the deep cycle takes a while.
-side note: I ahve noticed (visually) that the time taken to accomplish writing the lead out (at the end of the burning process) takes quite a bit longer with the 8x media. Further more, I notice that on the data side of the media, the inner circle (where this is color and numbers, but is not writeable area) varies in size.
Is it possible that some of the discs in my new batch of media are a tad less than 4.7GB, and causing simple lack of space issues? (this does not explain the "read" failure displayed by Nero during the DVD-to-DVD copy)
EDIT Now the error is primarily a "read error" by NERO. I also tried to select that it read at a set 4x speed, and likewise that is burn at a set 4x speed. no luck yet.
error:
-see attachment please.
