Return the original, commercial DVD of "Along Came Polly" to the store from which you purchased it and request another one in exchange...

I have a friend with the same problem but with different DVDs. Spiderman and Spiderman2 and a few others. Most that he do has audio. But these do not. No sound what so ever after DVD Shrink is done. I can do them just fine though. So any ideas for what could be causing the problem would be useful.

The probelm is caused by DVD Shrink or a combination of DVD Shrink and some other process that is running in the background.

DVD Shrink has been accused many times of losing the soundtrack.
Many times the sound stream has been turned off in Re-author mode.
Many of the other times, sound is regained by switching soundstreams on the standalone player.
An example of why the sound is lost is enabling the DTS stream only and not having a DTS decoder.
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

I am getting the same "WARNING - Due to patent license restrictions the DVD-Video will be played without audio." I reauthored Highwaymen with only the DTS audio stream selected. I used Shrink 3.2 to backup to my HD. Then I used Nero to burn to disk. Nero showed the 5-1 audio stream checked. Now, the movie plays in my home system without audio (yes, its capable of playing DTS movies - I have made several without problems) I returned the movie to my computer and tried to play it using NeroShow Time. This is the program that is showing the error.

Jmet, As you can see in the screen shot, the DTS icon is displayed. How can that be if the DTS audio stream was not present? I believe the audio is there, but for some reason, Shrink did not "unlock" the audio as required.

          Any other ideas?
          Anybody?

Edit>>Preferences>>Output Files Place a checkmark next to Logical remapping of enabled streams.

Edit>>Preferences>>Stream Selections>>Audio Language and Coding Type Select both All Languages and All types

              setarip,
thank you for your respose. i am now trying to do Flight of the Phoenix. however, even after changing these settings, i still cannot get the dts stream to play.

I tried recodeing again with both dd5.1 and dts selected. when played back in showtime, i can alternate between the two audio streams. when i choose regular 5.1, it plays fine. if i select the dts autio stream for playback, i still get the error - movie plays without any audio.

the problem is definatly with shrink. either i still have a setting off or it's in the actual program. any other suggestions?

has anyone been able to back up flight of the phoenix in dts???

You may think that it is switching, but it is merely downmixing the DTS to DD5.1. It can downmix because both audio streams are on the disc. If its only DTS, there is not another audio stream to downmix to. It indeed sounds like you do not have a reciever that is DTS compatible.

Are you using the correct cables for DTS sound?

Yes. Actually, I use the coax from my Panasonic DVD to the Sony receiver. All other DTS movies (backups and originals) are playing fine (audio & video).

I must take a step back here and apologize if I have misled anyone. It seems I have jumped the gun on 'Flight of the Phoenix". I copied this after making the changes suggested by setarip. The copy did not work properly in Showtime, but does work on my home system.
I am going to try to obtain another copy of Highwaymen and try to backup again with the new settings in place. Hopefully that will solve my problem.

                      Thanks
