DVD-R Playback problems

You might want to try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on your burner. Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US.

You will have to remove the complete label and the residue from the discs. Try soaking in slightly warm, not hot, water for about 45 minutes. This will defeat the adhesive and allow for the label to be removed w/o damage.
CD labels are not made for nor recommended for DVD's as they have a tendency to throw the balance off at the speeds that DVD's rotate since it is impossible to center them correctly.
You can remove the remaining adhesive with a soft cloth and isopropyl alcohol and do no damage to the media.
Mark them with a felt tip pen and you will not have the problem, although they will not look as neat.

Always wondered why ppl have to have 'em looking so beautiful. You can't see them when they're in their case nor when they are playing.

And it could add confusion about what's an original (if you were blind and dumb, that is )

If you REread this thread, you'll see tha "sillyme" has stated, "I don't now, nor ever have stuck labels on my DVD's so that definately isn't the issue."

You are inadvertently contributing to the hijacking by "sandman" of "sillyme's" thread...

Put a bloody sock in it. FGS, you are the same as us. I've had to think recently about being acting "in loco moderator"; you should too, and stop being so bloody high and mighty. If you wanna give orders, give them to your staff. You have just alienated a very senior member of the community in spinningwheel. For what? Your own feelings of superiority? Give us all a break. I did nothing wrong in this thread. My response was to spinningwheel, who responded to the thread's starter (incorrectly, as it turned out). I have much to apologise for, as you know, and have done so, not only to you but to the person involved. However, I did not actively hijack this thread. I feel your censure of me this time is unwarranted.

Paraphrasing setarip's great, and oft repeated words, an apology is in order mate.

I will allow the analogy of me to a donkey (ass?) to pass, although I would have expected better from you.



I'm sure a moderator will come along and delete this post for being disrespectful to a "demigod" and indeed, to god (of this board) himself (although I can't see how that breaches forum rules). I hope the intended recipients get to read it.

@blutach: Both you and jmet continued a discussion (which I have since deleted from the thread) involving calling each other Lordship and donkey (I put a question mark there to indicate my curiosity at this name calling game, which to me, is a bit childish), which in my opinion is clearly a thread hijacking. There is also the earlier posts about an issue that doesn't have anything to do with the original question, in which both you and spinningwheel were responsible for (sorry for not making this clear in my original post, since it should have been directed at spinningwheel as well).

If you see a post that doesn't have anything to do with the thread, you have the right not to respond to it. If you do, then you're part of the thread hijacking.
