No problem, but only to be done if leaving it too late for Setarips cleaner to cut through the grime!

Power off PC with drive tray open. E.g. A cold boot, opening door and switching off before OS kicks in.
Drive out of PC.
Base plate off. Tray front off. Fascia off.
May need to remove hub retaining bracket if can't see lens.
Lint-free cotton bud moistened in iso-propyl alchohol or meths, gently clean lens.
I'm rather loth to suggest this but worked for me - if scratched lens a wipe of the finger may deposit grease to fill scratch!
Reassemble.
