    Nero ultra error

Anyone know what this error is? I've burned plenty of dvd's, but had to reinstall Nero (upgraded to 6.6a) and now get this. Another problem, not sure if it is related or not, but anytime my external firewire is connected, xp boots up and the progress bar goes,.then i get a black screen.
This same problem is happening on 2 different computers.
Also running AVP, and no viruses detected.
    thanks

    A couple of things:

    1. Media is not liked. See this? Means media isn't being recognised.

    Media Specific [16..63]:
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................

    2. So, update firmware for DVD writer (you have version 1.33, the latest is 1.41). See here. And if you still have bad burns, buy media that your drive recognises.

    3. Turn DMA on for hard drive. See my sig for how.

    4. See my sig - Interpret Nero's Error Coes for more info on this error.

      2nd try

Forgot to say I already enabled DMA, and still didn't work last night.
Also,.. I did just update "http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/media/downloads/r4fw141.zip"
And it still did not work. Seems to be making coasters.
      I'm using Sony DVD-R 4.7gb media.
This has always worked before. Not sure why it will not work now.

Did a regedit, and removed anything named "Ahead" and "Nero"
did a reinstall of Nero, and still getting the same. Put in the http://ww2.nero.com/us/WNASPI32.DLL.html... and still did the same.
Jumper settings?.. I don't think that is it.
It seemed to want to burn at 2x though, when I've always burned at 1x. Joliet and long extension names are enabled.
Even burning a data disc stops.

Better to use Nero's clean tool than kill the registry like that. See here.

Read that link about Nero's error codes.

According to your log, DMA is NOT on for your hard drive.

And, best of all, try to burn with DVD Decrypter. IMHO, Nero is a POS (but I'm a famous Nero basher ).

2x would be very slow for that drive. It's clearly a media thing. Try something else.

What's the media ID of your media - not the brand but the ID code see my sig for how to find this out).

got a blue screen of death

bsod after running the clean, but xp ran fine after that.
Nero was uninstalled, so I did a reinstall, set it to 1x and tried to do a burn, and still the same error.
My DMA settings say dma2 not 5,.. is that a problem?
I'll pick up some new dvd-r's and see if it will burn.

            thanks for the help
