Sorry, should have seen this before.

Your burner will only work with DVD+R/RW discs - not -R discs as you have tried with.

There is a firmware to transform your burner to burn -R/-RW discs - but the warranty will be gone - so it's up to you. http://herrie.org/firmwares/nec1100.html

The only practical difference is that +R's have 6Mb less space (which won't affect you).

As well, in reality, +Rs should be able to be read better by DVD players, since they have the same reflectivity as a commercial DVD and, with bookmark setting, can fool a DVD player into thinking it is dealing with a commercial DVD and not one you burned.

Just wanted to let you guys know that it was the blank DVD's I was using. I was using DVD-R and cynthia suggested to use DVD+R and that is what i did and it worked.
