ok, now i got another thing to add about the problems.
i took some of my dvd-r disk on the same computer, used a different program(sonic my dvd, i think) and they will burn fine.
i also went and bought some dvd+r (sony brand) and tried them in dvd decrypter and they worked fine. so some how it seems like just dvd decrypter does not like my dvd-r disks all of a sudden, no matter what brand they are. even though they did work fine a few weeks ago. so now what do you guys suggest? please dont say stop using the dvd-r because i have about 100 left.

    quick summary:
    dvd+rw (imation brand) work fine
    dvd+r (sony brand) work fine
dvd-r (memorex brand) not working, but did
dvd-r (fujifilm brand) not working, but did
dvd-r (sony brand) not working, borrowed from friend and said he never had any problems with em

        Jarett,
I had similar problems with a 10mth old LG drive. Read & burnt CD's no problem. Sometimes would burn DVD's OK. Seemed to burn RAM & +RW OK. Didn't like -R's sometimes. This was intermittent over about 2 mths until it finally stopped reading DVD's altogether. Drove me crazy. Did system restores, uninstalled software, different media etc.... Finally took it back to the shop I bought it from & they admitted that they had been getting a few back with similar problems. It was replaced under warranty with a later model, which by the way I think is crap too!!! I have a feeling that companies are using inferior lasers to get prices down.

PS. You might try cleaning the lens

I have exactly the same problem with my Memorex 16X dual layer. If was buring from DVD Decrytper fine and then last week...same error as Jarret. Same media will burn mp3 and other files when I use Roxio...
Won't work in test or burn mode... I have the latest firmware.
I can use this drive as a source and then burn in my other DVD drive with same media???
Help if you have any other suggestions.
          Thanks so much

Hi All!! My friend is having this same problem. Does the dvd+rw disks differ so much from the dvd+r disks????

you can burn and erase with the rw's.

I mean other than that?? If a dvd writer says to use dvd+rw disks...is that what I should use? Would that cause the dvd not to burn if I used dvd+r disks?

I'm trying to post her dvd decryptor log but this forum isn't letting me cut & paste it.....

                TIA
