Can someone post that list of protected movies again. I assume that these wll stay protected for now. Is this the plan for all dvds soon?

Dummy sectors are just blanks. It's just to replace the sectors that couldn't be read.

what's the average time for a file to be encoded in DVD Shrink? A decrypter file im encoding is taking 1 1/2 hours! One other from a disc took about that long just to shrink too, and I'm used to about an hour at the most. It has seemed to be longer than normal lately. Would a reinstall cure this? Do the issues ever stop??? lol

The DVD I am referring to is the doco film...The Corporation. I kind of knew there were no defects on the DVD. I suspected copy protection from the start

Hello everyone. For the record, the advice regarding dvd dycrpter did work.. Thanks for that.

The following is a series of messages I get at times when I try to Burn in DVD Srhink using Nero:

                  6:59 AM - DVD-Video files reallocation started
6:59 AM - DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified)
                  6:59 AM - DVD-Video files sorted
                  7:00 AM - DVD-Caching files started
                  7:00 AM - DVD-Caching of files completed
                  7:00AM -Burn process started at 4x (5,540 kb/s)
                  7:03AM- SONY DVD RW DW-U12A
                  Queue again later
                  SONY DVD RW DW-U12A\H1T0
                  7:03AM- SONY DVD RW DW-U12A
                  PMA update failure
                  7:03AM- SONY DVD RW DW-U12A
Could not perform end of Disc at Once
7:03AM- Burn process failed at 4x

I get this one quite a bit, or something of the sort when I burn in Shrink using Nero. The chances of the process being successful is about 50/50. When it occurs, I may use burnatonce to create an image and then burn the image with Roxio. This is too m any steps for my liking though. What does the above-mentioned error mean, and what can be done about it? I have the latest firmware for the drive.

                    @ thatwdbme

It would help more if you had posted the whole log file from Nero.

                      @ Cynthia

That is the entire log as it was posted, stating with the reallocation start to the burn process failed dialogue. This was the log as it printed in the burn status box that comes up in Shrink after you put in the blank media. so all of this happened in Shrink, while burning with Nero (if that makes sense). If this happens while using Nero by itself, then the dialogue in its log may have been different. If I encounter the error while using just Nero itself to burn, I'll post that one too. The only other thing was a smaller box that just repeated that the burn process failed. Sorry I can't provide more, but the error symbols started showing up next to the dologue starting at 7:03, PMA update failure (or the queue again later message, i dont recall) if that helps...

You can still find the whole log file at this location: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.log

                        This one is more detailed.

OK, I found it, although I had to put the location in my search bar. I couldn't find it under explorer. I wonder why? Oh, I was looking for an executable file, I got it now. ANyway, here it is:

Your firmware don't recognize your brand of dics. You have the latest one installed.

There is a later version of Nero. It's free to update.

Only solution here is to change to a brand of discs that your burner like.

Isn't there a link that tells you the type of discs that works best with your drive/firmware? I thought I had one, but can't find it at the present.
