nec 1100a DVD+R (is this DVD-r too??)

due to another issue i have been google-ing the HELL out of NEC 1100a and i have been finding articles saying that this is a multi format drive (supporting both + and - ) can anyone else shed any light on this?

Not many people like this drive from what I've read. It appears it only burns to +R media. (Although a select few said they burned to -R media.). - http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters....&Search=Search
