This appears to indicate an error, however I haven't been able to find any information regarding these specific Nero Error codes.

Thanks for the valuable info...

So far:
I upgraded to Nero 6.6 as advised
I ran Nero CD-DVD Speed, and checked out a disk with the problems that I described.
Scandisk reported all green -- no errors
Disc Quality, reported a Score of 95 up until about 98% -- then it dropped to score of 92 in the last 2% of the check.

Tonight, as soon as my machine gets done defragmenting, I am going to burn another disc, and set my Target Size to 4200MB. I am going to cross my fingers and see what happens.

Two more questions...

How do I know if it is safe to delete the "Prassi/Veritas" Drivers? What are these drivers normally used for?

Is it advised to disable my Avast Virus Protection?

Hi joakers,

The disk quality score sounds excellent, anything above 90% should be no worries. It's possible that your standalone player is old/out of calibration or even just has a dirty lens. You could try a cd/dvd cleaner disk, they sell them everywhere blank media is sold for $10 or less.

Anything by Roxio will use the Prassi/Veritas drivers, I've also read some other things like some versions of WinAmp? I don't think there is a problem from having them both on the machine, necessarily, but if Nero was installed first it sometimes seems to result in a conflict. You could try finding it in Windows "Add/Remove" programs or use this tool http://softwareupdates.roxio.com/gm/...ls/roxizap.exe to remove it.

I don't think you need to disable your Anti Virus depending on how it is set-up, obviously you wouldn't want it launching a full system scan while you are trying to burn a disk.

I tried a new burn this evening, and it didn't freeze or lock up. However, it did start jumping around abit in the last 15 minutes of video. I'd say probably 80% better than before.

You say the "Check supported media : Disabled (0)" should be enabled.
How do you enable it?
Also, call me dumb, but what part of Nero actually burns the disc? Can I set its parameters before I run DVD Shrink, and allow Nero to burn?

joakers, something got screwed up your NEC burner now has DMA OFF, it was on earlier.

You need to resolve that first, while I look over the rest of the new log..

Edit 1: Please uninstall InCD, even though it's a Nero product it's been known to cause problems when burning. If you want to manually control the Nero burn settings, change the DVD Shrink burn settings to "backup to ISO", then you can just drag it into Nero to burn it.

Edit 2: Are you using Windows XP SP1 with a nForce2 based mobo by any chance?

I sounds to me, that a few other people have their "Check supported media : Disabled (0)"
OK... I uninstalled INCD, and the DMA is still "OFF" How do I turn it on?
Also, you say, "If you want to manually control the Nero burn settings, change the DVD Shrink burn settings to "backup to ISO".
I've been all over the place and can't figure out what you are talking about "ISO" in DVD Shrink burn settings.
FOY -- I am using Windows XP Professional 2002 with Service Pack 2 , and have an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ 2.09 GHZ, 1.50GB of RAM. I am not sure what the motherboard is, my son gave it to me. I see writing on it that says its a AGP.
rbrtpl -- I followed a link to a sight for firmware from a previous message, and the firmware update for my NEC drive was submitted by someone who goes by the name of the "dangerous guys", and says that if I screw it up I may ruin the drive. Also it says I have to have a full dos prompt --not just a window. All this makes me very nervous.

I went to the NEC USA site, and updated my firmware. (I did not use the "dangerous guys")
Also, I removed the "Prassi/Veritas" drivers, and found out that my DVD 43 won't work without them. At this point, should I go ahead and trash my DVD 43?
I'm getting ready to burn, and I'll post a log.

Don't think the firmware screwed up your driver. I had that burner myself and I would suggest your use this version

LD3540_1W5.zip Liggy's And Dee's NEC NEC 1.W5 including Bitsetting, Riplock removed and RPC1

instead. When you unzipp the files - selct the non quiet version. That one is faster in ripping. But wait with this update until the PIO mode problem is solved.

Regarding your PIO problem. It could be that the chipset drivers are not working. Either you have Intel, Via or Nvdia chipset drivers.

An easy way to find out is to run this tool (freeware) http://www.nero.com/eng/Info_Tool.html and it will list your computer specifications (motherboard, chipset and a lot of other information). You can attach that .txt file in a post here.

Please see this FAQ this issue needs to be resolved first, nothing else matters until you get DMA enabled.

It is likely a nForce2 mobo, if so, you absolutely should update the mainboard drivers to version 2.45 or newer. These can be found at nvidia.com or your mobo manuf. website. I'm not gonna get into the firmware thing, but I'd trust cynthia's advice absolutely

Yes I'd get rid of it, I haven't seen a Region 1 dvd that dvddecrypter couldn't handle on it's own yet.
