As you can see this block in my log gets the physical media info. It's been mentioned around here that DVD-R won't give media specific info, but I would still expect to see the manufacturers name and some basic info here.

The only other thing I can think of, and one of the other differences between our logs is the ASPI versions. I've read time and time again that ASPI 4.60 is recommended over the newer versions due to conflicts. Your system is using ASPI 4.71 see the 3rd line in the log here:</not></atapi></tdk>

However, to eliminate the possibility of a compatability issue I'd like you to change your system ASPI to 4.60. Please see this page for the instructions and to download ForceASPI v7.</atapi> You won't need the ASPICHK program mentioned on the page, Nero Info Tool will give you the same info in it's ASPI tab. <atapi>Please note this line in the instructions:</atapi>

Some people report better success by running <code>killASPI</code> before running <code>instASPI</code> when newer ASPI drivers (such as v4.71.2) have been installed.<atapi></atapi>

So I would run them in this order:

• Run <code>dumpASPI</code> to backup your current ASPI layer
• Run <code>killASPI</code> to halt the v4.71 ASPI layer<code></code><code></code>
• Run <code>instASPI</code> to install the new ASPI layer
• Reboot
• Run Nero Info Tool to verify v4.60 installation

The highlighted above interprets to "Invalid field in CDB"

CDB (command descriptor block) : The command descriptor block (CDB) is a data structure defined by the SCSI specification for communicating commands to SCSI devices You send a CDB to a SCSI device using the SCSICmd function. The size of the CDB structure can be 6, 10, or 12 bytes, depending on the number of parameters required by the command. The first byte specifies the command, and the remaining bytes contain parameters.

Depends on the MID, it seems they could be either CMC MAG.F01 or MCC.....002 in other words either junk or very good. I'd suggest picking up a few R/W disks locally until the burn issue is resolved.

@2COOL, that is useful information, and I know that HA = Host Adapter, but what is TA, this seems to be indicating a check condition failure?

@joakers, I would suggest as a test to physically disconnect the CD drive and the Scanner and after you reboot make sure they aren't shown in Device manager. Then do a test burn to a R/W disc.

Since the error is an Illegal Request, it's possible that when the Check Condition was sent to the DVD-Burner, one of the other devices gave a response, which of course was illegal. As I mentioned earlier, I think you should disconnect the other Optical drive and scanner and see if this error still occurs.
