awrighty. The only other media i have on hand is some Phillips DVD+R 1-8x.The only thing I'm skeptical about is after reading the Media FAQ, these disks are also made in Taiwan. So I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed and try burning with this media thru DVD Shrink.Wish me luck.

Good luck. Try Taiyo Yuden, Verbatims or Riteks (except the G05s).

In the continuation of my constant fustration, i switched the media and boom! I start burning BUT now everytime i get going it says:

BOOK TYPE: AUTOMATICALLY SET TO DVD ROM

I'm trying to change it but it keeps doin' it.

There are some higher powers out to get me......bad....real bad....

Actually as long as the media is +R, setting the booktype is a good thing. It will make players think that it is a DVD-ROM, which makes it compatible with more players.

The external drive, is it usb2 on a usb1 port?
Rebadged lite-on with bad memorex firmware?

This would be a good thing (in almost every case imaginable). Leave it be.

                Let 'er rip.

                Pun intended.

                Let 'er burn.

As for the booktype - please see What's bitsetting

Do not try to set it for -R disks.

If you can't uncheck it, chances are your drive does not support this feature, so don't worry.

LD you should be able to do a search from My Computer for the PXHELP20.SYS or just look in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder where it most likely is residing and/or you could try running the RoxiZap Tool: http://softwareupdates.roxio.com/gm/...ls/roxizap.exe
