Just FYI,

I had a hard time finding the right type of DVD recordable media to use with my SONY burner and DVD shrink. ten bad burns later i narrowed it down to the flawless media. Today I uncovered a gold nugget of information. The website for SONY has a techsupport for my model of burner that has SONYs' recommended media. Not so coincidentially ( I think I spelled that right) all the bad media for me is not listed here and the two good ones' I found are!!

I wish id found this about 100$ ago

@pcj197493 - Depending upon what model Sony Burner you have there are tools to extract the supported media codes from the burner fw. What model do you have?

well after my 100 pack of memorex are a big waste, I found some that work perfect for my lite on burner, what I don't understand is that my first 15 burns with my memorex DVD-R's there were no flaws and now every single on of them are burning 10 % and wasted........if anyone can explain this to me please do so.

i wouldn't waste your time with lite-on tech support. seriously, you'll fare better in forums like these. i have a lite-on sohw1213s, it likes the memorex and sony 08d1 ID dvd-r's. which model do you have? and is the firmware up to date?

also, having some good and some bad discs in a batch or spindle isn't unheard of with some media.

@idiotbox - what liteon burner do you have? Can you post a log from the burning program you use to give us more info. Some LiteOn models have newer and up more to date firmware from Liteon. Some like LT's have not had a fw update for over a year from LiteOn. Then of course there are the Codeguys and their Omnipatcher and modified fw's, and MediaCodeSpeedEdit by ala42 to help get better burns.

@idiotbox12 - I have the same burner and fw and had success with the CMC MAGE01 media. You chopped off the beginning of the Nero log that has important info in it. Can you post the entire part of the log for that burn?

I have the same burner with the same fw and have no problems.

thanks I am going to try that forceaspi thing now, and believe you me I know about my DMA mode I have tried everything in the world and nothing works it is stuck on PIO mode I dunno why I gave up on that.

Did you delete the Secondary IDE channel and reboot and it still came back up as PIO mode? Do you have XP SP2 installed?
