Best internal DVD burner as of Jan 15, 06????

I've looked around the net for what people would say were the best internal burners on the market today. I've seen a lot of recommendations for Plextor and LiteOn, but problem is most of the articles are outdated or don't have the info I'm looking for.

What in your opinion would be the best out there right now? My criteria is simple: RELIABILITY (no coasters with good media at fast speeds) and I definitely want INTERNAL. Maybe even lightscribe technology if available (not essential, just would be nice). Money is not an issue.

If my hardware specs are important then a quick summary:

Pentium 4 1.8Ghz 400mhz Bus
2GB DDR Ram
100GB Hard Drive
64MB NVidia Graphics card

SWEET! You guys are great! I checked all the reviews/links you guys provided and I did some research on my own for those burners listed above and they are definitely top quality just like you said.

Those BenQ lightscribes are awesome, but I think I'm liking the NEC burner better at this point.

The deciding factor for me is that I just realized TY Blank media does not support lightscribe and that is the only media I've learned to trust over the last few months of burning. Anyone know if TY will support this in the future?

Anyway, I saw a member state something about LiteOn burners. Which LiteOn burner model would you guys say is the best/most reliable one right now?

lightscribe is called labelflash with nec

the 4551 does provide labelflash

will "labelflash" work on and blank media? Or does it have to have a special discs like "lightscribe"?

where can I even purchase the NEC drive labelflash? newegg.com doesn't have it and I did a google search only to find reviwes and such.....no links to actually buy it. Is it still so new that it is not available for retail yet?

You're right, I caught that later after reading the review at cdfreaks,
they even write on the data side, weird!!! More of a mess!
My sharpie works on all media and burners!

so the 4551 is not available in the US?

i'm in need of another dvd burner for my second machine and i'll try to get the 4550 today (as i have no interest in lightscribe/labelflash), but 4551 is also available here

as the price difference is some 30+% and except for labelflash there is no difference i will definitely prefer the 4550
