I have always burned my movies with -r Verbatim's and have never had a bad burn. They play on every player I have ever tried them on. If I switched to +r's and used the bitsetting would that be a better approach? Would they be more compatable and more reliable down the line. sorry if this is too much of a noob question. I know nothing about media what so ever. It just seems that most of the people on this forum use the +r Bitsetting approach with TY or Verbatim media. Any input would be helpful.

Hello,
I have had bad luck with the DVD+R. I only us DVD-R discs now. I find that when taking my DVD's to friends the DVD-R seem to play on all players of my friends and family with out a problem, as where the +R do not play at all on some. -
you have a good system. i say why change anything? why switch? i use exclusively -R too. i don't have a single +R disc to my name. you should find out if your writer supports booktype setting before you go out and buy discs though."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Totally agree with Lt here if it ain't broke why fix it?If you use dvd-R & everything is done properly it comes out with a dvd-rom profile. If you use dvd+R and everything is done properly it comes out with a dvd-rom profile. Most people forget the booktype on dvd+r but they can only do that if their writer supports it like LT says. The dvd-rom profile is needed to fool players into thinking it is an actual disc.Check out blutach's signature.
