use those disks wisely, you won't get that good with the newer stuff,
I have only 25 left of my older stock, most of your PIF's were in the
    8x to 12x burn range.

Ok here are the screen shots of my burns, the 2nd is actually the third as i now have another coaster to my collection, but out of 20 discs 2 bad ones is tolerable, knowing this Sony (taiwan) media is not their best but here's to better burning and learning more along the way.

use the save feature, it makes a larger size image to view and the filesize is much smaller, like so

Ok thanks for all the info and here is a great page for dvd media info http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediasearch it seems more up to date than digitalFaqs, as i have a hard time with finding most of the current media listed. I installed DVD Identifier from http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ and have found some very usefuls tools there to help in this process of how fast or slow I should burn the dvd's, I have found that slower is not always better, as some media is not rated to go as slow as people purport to burn it.
Knowlegde is power, and hopefully it will stop the mass production of coasters, I'm still not sure about firmware but mine is up to date for my burners.
            Peace

I seem to get better burns with a few under my Lite-on's belt since the firmware upgrade, I think it did pretty well on this one for an Imation disc here is the log well see how well a sony does in a few burns. I think what has helped is knowing the supported and reccomended burn speeds for the discs.

Can I suggest to do also transfer rate test? Only scans are not sufficient to state disc quality. Some discs have good scans and are unreadable (don't ask me why, I have no idea but I saw some examples in cdfreaks).
