Best all round burner?

Loaded question as no burner can do it all, the new benq's 1650/55 are too slow at ripping, but very accurate. They scan the best, burn very good.

My solution was to pair my lg 4163B with my nec 3550 and my benq 1650 with my nec 3540(riplock removed)

ANSWER: Burning a lot of coasters and way below 80 in quality discs.

PS I lucked into the LG 4163b and bought the NEC 3550 ND on your recommendation. Best thing I ever did!!!!!!(and the best burns too)

To test ripping, I took a slightly used slightly dirty tv series dual layer disk and ripped with DVDD in my new benq 1650, 30 minutes, then ripped in my
nec 3550 11 1/2 minutes.

i like my necs (3500 + 4550)

very speedy readers and excellent burners

scanning qualities are not half as important as they seem to be - the burning quality is what counts

only 2 atapi capable per computer, 2 main computers each have the pairs of burners, all hard drives are serial, everything standalone master

I like nec for ripping I just dont like the style of nec burning, like the stair up and up, benq burning style look funky but make sense for all diff. medias
