      1655 Drive

      Hi folks,

Question for the usual gang ... friend of mine asked me a question which I wasn't sure about the answer ...

He was wondering if he should buy 2 of these 1655 drives BECAUSE he had heard somewher that BenQ has been bought by some other company and they might make Drives like 1655 anymore!?!?!?

Seems like I also remember reading something to that effect somewhere online.

Q: What do youy guys recommend for this friend of mine? Seems like we used swear by 1640 and now the 1650/1655 is our new BEST burner ... Soooooo!

      Thanks,
      G!

Lighton bought Benq but that was old news, 20/40/50/55 is really good to have even the new firmware is not very good but I use old medias only

you never can tell which one is better between 40 and 50/55

          Hi gonwk,
and they might make Drives like 1655 anymore!?!?!?
benq1670/sony820 will be based on a different chipset, no scanning etc
Chewy referred to this in earlier posts in this thread; new burners not having the ability to scan...

          guess thats' progress...

          regards, katz

              Hey guys,
I need some info about my 1650. I'm currently running BCHC and looking to install BCIC. I was reading over at CD Freaks that I should refresh the drive's memory via QSuite for a cleaner install. How do I obtain Benq's QSuite and is it really necessary. I bought the drive as an OEM.

to me new firmware are for new medias, qsuite is just treak up a bit, beware that it may treak down a bit too

I use it just for burning 8x media to 12x speed

From what I see over at CDF, the new BCIC FW seems to be an improvement. Particularily with TY02's. Some nice scans.

you can burn 8x media at 12x or 16x speed ( good medias suggestion only), WOPC and SOLID burn are good for ok or not so good media but it may turn bad so test it yourself and see which one you want to use for your medias

                          Burn> scan ( qsuite setting?)

I had some ricoh 4X dvd+r's I got a real deal on, out of 200 disks my son and I used only 1 bad disk?, problem was my benq and LG would only burn at 4X.

With overspeed on(part of qsuite) but using imgburn to turn it on I could burn them at 8x, 12x or 16x. The Benq actually burned them best at 12x.

I like those because I did burn at 12x once and it test well too, still saving them after all my chunk ( sale medias, I need to quit buying sale item )
