straight paper with no liner will scratch discs in time IMO.

I usually use the Staples Slim Jewel cases. On sale and with a empty ink cartridge or two, not a bad deal.

I haven't seen any damage with properly handled disks, my wallets also
scuff the edges if you are careless. Someone needs to market an open
tray that holds 100 with dividers. Most efficient way to store a LOT
        of disks.

I use the box the 100 slim cases come in, cut down 2 of the sides the flap is on and bingo, a box with a lid that open wide and free 100 DVD case with a handle to carry it with. Works for me and they stack nice too. Don't look pretty but a little contact paper or something might pretty them up.

I was thinking about a double 5 drawer filing cabinet(disk in sleeve size)
easily holding 1000 disks in 10 drawers in a very small space.
Sort of like a card catalogue at the library.
            anyone remember those?

I use the slim jewel cases, whenever I find them on sale somewhere for 10-12 dollars for a hundre, I buy them. I put a label on the end, and buy a cheap CD stand that holds 100 or so cd's, this way I get storage for 200+ of my backups. I found a stand at Wal-Mart a few weeks back that held 52 DVD's or 104 CD's, so I bought two, they were like $8.00 a piece, but I got storage for 416 of my DVD's for $16.00. The stands actually look decent for the price. So for about 16 cents a DVD, I get packaging and storage.

that's the one thing i hate about em. i have this massive old dresser i keep all my crap in. they all sit on their edges and i put the envelope label at the top and makes browsing a snap. pretty good system! cost effective too!

I use Avery 2" x 4" labels and I set my size to 10 with a 6 space in between, which allows me to print 7 titles to each of the four inserts. Then I use scissors to cut them and stick them on. Actually the letters are the same size as the case and are easily readable. Took me a little experimenting one night to get it right, but after playing with it for a while, I got it right and it works great.

I use books/wallets/cases. Most of them are just Photo binders with cd insert pages that I added. They will clip into any 3 ring binder. Each page is double sided & holds 8. Probably have 10 books. This is my favorite way to store discs. Want to watch, say Bladerunner? Just pull out the A-C binder from the shelf, flip through a few pages and there it is. No sleeves, no DVD or Jewel cases. Nice and easy. I do keep my sets & series usually in their own cake boxes.

                          My DVD's... seriously.

After pricing the cd insert pages, I just went with the 20$ walmart 200 cd wallets, I have almost finished filling 3, adding the third was a bear as I had to reorganize everything. A fourth will be grade B movies.

I looked on yahoo shopping and found a cd wallet that stores like 256 for 8 bucks. I bought two. I am too lazy to alphabitize i just try to put them in the order i buy them. sometimes hard to find old ones but new ones are always right there.
